Our History, Our Future

Cabalva-History.jpg

The Guest family came to Cabalva during the Second World War at which point the original estate had been mostly sold off, the main house was a boys’ boarding school, and the farm was barely operational.  The Honourable Susan Guest (JP) with her politician and estate planning husband Oscar, gradually restored the estate to a working farm.  Susan Guest become known throughout the region for her prize-winning pedigree Hereford cattle.

In 1982 their youngest daughter, Revel Guest, took on the management of Cabalva and created a successful and hugely respected eventing yard, Cabalva Stud.  She helped the careers of many successful competition riders, including Olympic Gold medalist Leslie Law.

In 2011, her daughter Corisande, a documentary filmmaker, took over management of Cabalva with her husband, Angus Grahame.  Cabalva remains very much a family affair with Corisande’s brother and sister-in-law living on the farm.  With their support and advice, and with the dedication of experienced livestock farm manager, Tom Davies, and the marketing and holiday let skills of Zoe Verry, we are working to preserve the spirit of Cabalva while finding new and exciting ways to equip the estate for the future.
